Sipapu Ski and Summer Resort to Expand Operating Hours
Vadito, NM — March 3, 2010 — On pace for yet another record-breaking season, Sipapu Ski and Summer Resort, New Mexico’s year-round destination for family-friendly, family fun, announced it will expand its lift operating hours beginning March 14 through the end of the season.
From March 14-21 and again March 27-28, lifts will be open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., giving snow enthusiasts an extra hour every afternoon on the slopes.
“We are excited to keep our lifts operating later everyday, especially over Spring Break,” said Sipapu’s general manager, John Paul Bradley. “Our guests have given us yet another record-breaking year, so the expanded hours are just one small way to say thank you.”
Sipapu will continue to offer expanded afternoon hours through the rest of the season: from March 22-26 and April 3 until closing day (scheduled for April 11), lift operations will go from 9:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
“We expanded our hours last season, and guests really liked it,” Bradley said. “The extended afternoon skiing allows the spring snow to soften while giving visitors every opportunity to enjoy the sunshine.”
Sipapu’s full-service rental shop and ticket office will open at 8:30 a.m. March 22-26 and April 3 until closing day. From March 14-21 and March 27-28, the rental shop and ticket office will maintain their normal 8 a.m. opening time.
The general store and Riverside Café will maintain their regular business hours: the general store opens at 8 a.m., and the Riverside Café opens at 7:30 a.m.
March 28 marks the end of daily operations for Sipapu – the resort will be open weekends only beginning April 3.
Sipapu is scheduled to again be the last resort to close in New Mexico, with closing date set for April 11 (weather and conditions permitting – visitors are encouraged to check www.SipapuNM.com for the latest updates).
Sipapu's 2009-2010 winter season has been yet another one for the books: in November, the resort shattered attendance and terrain records for the state’s first opening weekend, and Sipapu is on track to once again retain the title of New Mexico’s fastest growing resort.
Lift tickets are $39 for adults (ages 20-59), $34 for teens (ages 13-19), $29 for kids (ages 7-12) and seniors (ages 60-69). Beginning March 22, lift tickets are just $25 for adults and teens, and $10 for kids and seniors. Fourth graders (proof, such as report cards, are required), kids ages six and younger, guests who are 40 years old, and seniors 70 or better ski and ride free everyday at Sipapu.
Sipapu Ski and Summer Resort enters the 2009-2010 ski season as New Mexico’s fastest growing resort, yet visitors won’t have to wait in line for a lift. For complete information about Sipapu, visit
