New Mexico’s ski season is just around the corner, and our favorite resorts are gearing up for another epic winter filled with new features, family-friendly events, and exciting upgrades. Here’s what you need to know about each resort’s opening date, new improvements, and must-see events this season.
Ski Santa Fe
Opening Date: Friday, November 23rd, 2024
What’s New:
- The new high-speed Santa Fe Express quad will be operational on opening day, cutting the lift ride time down to just over 4 minutes.

Angel Fire Resort
Opening Date: December 13, 2024
What’s New:
- A variety of fun, family-friendly events, including the annual Holiday Torchlight Parade & Fireworks and monthly Stargazing & S’mores events.

Sipapu Ski and Summer Resort
Opening Date: November 15th, 2024
What’s New:
- A $400K capital improvement investment has been made, including new carpet in the hotel and a new snowcat to improve grooming.
- $70K in rental equipment upgrades and enhancements to the snowmaking system.
- Tickets start as low as $15 and are available for purchase online with variable pricing.
Taos Ski Valley
Opening Date: November 28, 2024
What’s New:
- Winter Community Weekend (December 14-15) offering free ski and snowboard lessons, novice lift tickets, ice skating, and family activities for New Mexico residents.

Pajarito Mountain
Opening Date: Now Open Friday - Sunday until Dec. 23.
What’s New:
- Expanding the popular kids' multi-week ski lessons with the Camp Bluebird program.
- Free season passes for kids 12 and under, making it easier for families to hit the slopes.
Red River Ski & Summer Area
Opening Date: November 27, 2024
What’s New:
- 10 new automated snow guns to improve snowmaking.
- A brand-new fixed-grip triple lift will replace the Copper Chair for a smoother experience.
- Introducing a Beginner Lift Ticket, perfect for those learning to ski or snowboard.
Ski Apache
Opening Date: November 30, 2024
What’s New:
- The scenic gondola will reopen in September and remain operational on weekends through November.
- Early bird season passes are on sale until December 1st—act fast to secure your pass for this winter!
Sandia Peak Ski Area
Opening Date: Reopening date to be determined. (weather permitting)
What’s New:
- Power Kids Pass offers free skiing for children 12 and under, with access to 12 mountains, including Sandia Peak.
- Lift 4 and the Mighty Might are being revived, alongside enhancements to the snowmaking system.
- This season, Sandia Peak will operate 7 days a week, with tickets starting as low as $19.
