Winter may be what draws most people to New Mexico’s ski resorts, but summer in the mountains offers a whole different kind of magic. From scenic chairlift rides and downhill biking to family-friendly events, hiking, and cool weather escapes, our resorts transform into high-altitude playgrounds all summer long.

What to Expect This Summer at New Mexico's Ski Resorts

Angel Fire Resort
Opening May 17 (weekends) and May 23 (daily), Angel Fire is home to the largest Bike Park in the Rockies, scenic chairlift rides, ziplining, golf, and lake activities like paddleboarding and fishing on Monte Verde Lake.

Pajarito Mountain
A local favorite with lift-served mountain biking, scenic hiking trails, and summer events like Bike & Brew and Ullrfest. The 2025 season kicks off June 7.

Red River Ski & Summer Area
Summer in Red River starts Memorial Day weekend and includes scenic chairlift rides, a summer tubing hill, the Hidden Treasure Aerial Park, and a vibrant downtown filled with shops and live music.

Sandia Peak Tramway
Open year-round (weather permitting), the Sandia Peak Tramway offers a scenic ride to 10,378 feet. Enjoy high-altitude hikes, views of Albuquerque, and fine dining at TEN 3.

Sipapu Ski & Summer Resort
Opening May 3, Sipapu is known for its free disc golf course, fishing on the Rio Pueblo, hiking, and proximity to rafting and off-road adventures. It’s a peaceful, family-friendly summer base.

Ski Apache
Set to open May 24, Ski Apache offers gondola rides, ziplining, mountain biking, and access to hiking trails on Sierra Blanca, all with incredible views over southern New Mexico.

Ski Santa Fe
While lifts are closed during summer, the area is a gateway to the Santa Fe National Forest, offering access to hiking trails, camping, and high-country lakes like Nambe Lake and Lake Katherine.

Taos Ski Valley
Opening June 14, Taos offers Lift 4 scenic rides, the Via Ferrata climbing course, mountain biking, alpine hiking, and relaxing in the charming base village with food, music, and cool summer breezes.

Enchanted Forest Cross Country Ski Area
Located just outside Red River, Enchanted Forest opens its scenic trail system for hiking, running, and biking. Explore the Carson National Forest, or book a hike-in yurt for a unique overnight escape.
